Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1791. Mozart died composing this piece, one of my personal favorite classical pieces and undoubtedly Mozart's best work. At the time of his death, the Requiem had only been composed through the Sanctus. Everything following that segment of the work was completed by Mozart's student, Franz Xavier Suessmayr.
The Benedictus and Agnus Dei portions are wholly attributed to him, while the closing piece, Communio, utilizes Mozart's composition in the opening Introitus and Kyrie segments.
