Former UTEP and current Southern Cal head men's basketball coach Tim Floyd had a very close relationship with Don Haskins, serving as Haskins' assistant and top recruiter from the late 1970's to the mid 1980's. Floyd, who lost his father at 17, counts Haskins as a surrogate father.
