Crete, Greece. Sifis, a man going through a mid-life crisis, abandons his wife Helen the day after their daughter’s marriage. Helen, feeling betrayed and broken, tries, in vain, to understand why her husband decided to leave her. The absence of Sifis leaves his closest friend and best man in marriage dumbfounded as well. The void created by Sifis’ disappearance brings Helen and her husband’s best friend closer together and a relationship between them evolves. Soon, the two respective families and the conservative society of the island discover and disapprove of this illicit relationship. A year later, Sifis returns and attempts to claim his place in his family only to be faced with a cruel unexpected reality.
