This footage was filmed by a Fred Meyer customer, showing a number of small birds stuck to glue traps haphazardly tied around ceiling pipes. The birds, struggling frantically and visibly exhausted, only became more twisted and tangled as they tried to escape the glue. Many birds eventually died in the traps. Fred Meyer’s corporate headquarters denounced the use of the glue traps and insisted that they be replaced with humane alternatives. The company also enacted a nationwide ban on the use of glue traps in its stores.
