Sanford and Terlato Family Vineyards Take Home High Honors
It was against the odds. A Brooklyn born kid now in his seventies was heralded as one of the top wine producers at the recent San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, but the accolades are no accident; Anthony Terlato had a dream and he had set his sights on the goal of producing great wines. Among the 4,235 wine entrants, 60 professional judges awarded medals to 20 Terlato wines at the prestigious competition, including Best of Class for his Sanford 2006 Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills and Double Gold for two wines -- his eponymous label Terlato Family Vineyards 2005 Napa Valley Devil's Peak Bordeaux Blend and the Sanford 2006 Pinot Noir-Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. Acclaimed as San Francisco's premier tasting event, the Chronicle event features award-winning wines from across the country.
