This film attempts to reveal a glimmer of hope for our future and is the continuation of my previous film You Get What You Pay For. However, this film turns its focus towards the Prison Industrial Complex and describes how the corporation UNICOR is a prime example of a leading manufacturer that profits from prisons. UNICOR works with many agencies such as the Department of Defense by employing prisoners to produce wires for weapons guidance systems, kevlar vests, and helicopter parts. Many other companies profit from prisons as well such as McDonald's, Boeing, AT&T, and Victoria's Secret, (just to name a few.) These companies are essentially saving money by not having to pay retirement or vacation benefits to their incarcerated employees, and in turn making large profits from slave labor. Privatized correctional facilities are a new phenomenon that actually shape their profits around the amount of net new inmates they receive each year.
