Theatrical trailer for the 1941 Bob Steele western, BILLY THE KID IN SANTA FE. Concurrent with his saddle duties as "Tucson Smith" in Republic Pictures' popular "Three Mesquiteers" western series, prolific screen cowboy Bob Steele (birth name Robert Bradbury), starred in six westerns for independent producer Sigmund Neufeld which were released through Producer's Releasing Corporation. Bearing little resemblance to the famed frontier outlaw, all entries teamed Steele with saddle jester Al "Fuzzy" St. John, and were usually shot in five to seven days. Steele left the series after BILLY THE KID IN SANTA FE, relinquishing the role to Buster Crabbe, who continue to starin the popular, profitable series -- as "Billy the Kid" and, later, as "Billy Carson" -- until 1946.
