Two Spirit aired on the January 2007 show and is one of my favorite segments. A panel discussion comprised of Native Americans from different tribes from different parts of the country spoke about the centuries-old Native American belief system around LGBT people, which is known as Two Spirit. LGBT people were an integral, respected, even revered part of Native American society prior to the settlement of the Americas by Europeans, which was an empowering and hopeful story of what role LGBT people once did and possibly could again play in the world. I enjoyed bringing some creativity to this segment; the masks in the segment are my own and were hanging on my living room wall, while the drawings I drew myself in high school. It was fun incorporating those artistic visual elements into the title slates.
