Is Big Brother watching you through cameras at West Hartford intersections? Not likely.
The new traffic lights are an effort to update antiquated lights, and the cameras are a more efficient way to monitor when vehicles and bicycles approach a signal. For now the video signal only travels to a computer at each intersection.
West Hartford didnât have to spend a penny for the upgrade. The city received more than $7 million from the federal government to make the switch.
Many of the lights are currently up, the remainder will be finished this fall.
