Amazing contemporary jazz sax player Jackiem Joyner talks about his life, inspirations, passions, and his new CD titled 'Lil' Man Soul.' Jackiem Joyner has made a huge step in his young career with his sophomore release, Lil Man Soul. After being discovered by Richard Elliot and Rick Braun and supported by Peter White on his very first release (babysoul May 2007) he has become accustomed to being in the company of the very top flight performers in contemporary jazz. Recording sessions with Joe Sample, Wayman Tisdale, Gerald Albright and other stars have keened his considerable chops. Add to that a couple years worth of hopping the globe as member of Keiko Matsuis band this Lil Man Soul is steppin out and into the bright lights. The new release reflects a greater sonic dimension in the recording and instrumentation and clearly a maturity in composition as well. The Virginia-born Joyner evokes comparison to many of the genres great talents (among them Grover Washington, Jr. and George Howard) while producing a singular, unique voice of his own.
