The Penrith Mountain Rescue team works in a tough area with an unforgiving landscape and unpredictable weather. Each year they rescue hundreds of walkers who have injured themselves on the Fells â making good use of the highly adapted Renault Master Van which is used as a command and control centre, especially given 2009's freak winter weather. In this film we meet the Mountain Rescue team members, all of them volunteers, who are prepared to drop everything to go on potentially life-saving call-outs in conditions that are often treacherous. We see the role the Renault Master plays in search and rescue operations and join a team on a training exercise. We're also with the team when a genuine call-out takes place and they head into the snow-covered hills to rescue a casualty.
