New York City: Monday, August 17, 2009: In the Big Apple, when the going gets toughthe tough go running! In anticipation of the Nike+ Human Race, which is a global, multi-city 10k event slated for Saturday, October 24, 2009, hundreds of New York runners dressed in red, along with a few elite athletes, participated in a training run across the famed Brooklyn Bridge. The star athletes who were out to support locals were Chris Duhon of the New York Knicks, Essence Carson of the New York Liberty, Middle Distance American Record holder Alan Webb, and track star Lauren Fleshman, a 5k standout. The Human Race will once again celebrate the sport of running by giving runners everywhere the opportunity to run together in more than 30 cities from New York City to Rio de Janeiro, Rome to Sydney.
