GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (June 9, 2009) U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to Amphibious Construction Battalions One and Two assemble an elevated causeway system during the exercise Joint Logistics Over the Shore (JLOTS) 09. The system is a critical capability that allows the military to move forces and supplies without the benefit of a fixed, deep-draft port. The exercise will demonstrate the Navy, Army, and Marine Corps ability to deploy, discharge and conduct reception and staging of equipment in a scenario that requires ships to offload while still offshore.
