Def poetry jam slam is just urban hate speech By Reid Baer Def poetry jam slam is just urban hate speech to me and because IâÂÂm white donâÂÂt mean itâÂÂs alright for you to scream in my ear - you hear â what did I ever do to you except be white? ItâÂÂs all good â You do what you want in your hood and IâÂÂll be fine in mine. ThereâÂÂs no animus here man, you ainâÂÂt my enemy, and anybody can be racist! IâÂÂm an artist like you telling it straight like I See it. You dig? You got no basis for slinginâ slurs at me and lashing out at me - and sure as shit you ainâÂÂt gonna be free by setting your sites on me - so what say you start looking to your- Self on your own streets my brother? because I ainâÂÂt the one killinâ your kin and your blame game just ainâÂÂt no way to win - itâÂÂs a dead end road and gonna get you nowhere but famous, dead or in prison. Look, I know about oppression, and anger and demons of my own that just donâÂÂt care about the color of our skin â weâÂÂre all human beings here - I got my deep personal work to do, donâÂÂt you?! -
