The Bethany and Rufus Roots Quartet not only released their new CD âÂÂLive àFipâ on October 22nd, but they performed tracks from it that same day at Les Trois Mailletz in Paris France (a local âÂÂcaveâ where Nina Simone used to play to rehearse for big show). The quartet released two videos from that performance, the first being âÂÂOh, Deathâ a high energy number where Bethany YarrowâÂÂs strong and passionate voice was accented and matched by Yacouba MoumouniâÂÂs vocals which mixed, intensified, and finally climaxed in a most satisfying manner. Backed by the masterful cello playing of Rufus Cappadocia and the rhythmic beats of âÂÂBongaâ Jean-Baptiste, the performance was dynamic and powerful.
