The Jordan Tourism Development II Project is working with a broad range of actors in the tourism sector, from government ministries to local cooperatives, to develop and manage Jordanâs tourism resources and enhance its competitiveness. Since 2008, the project has supported the local women of the Taybeh Ladies Cooperative in producing and selling ceramics based on Nabatean designs in the Petra region. Through grants and capacity building, the cooperative has improved its ability to design and market its pottery and now supplies two major hotels and one restaurant in Petra. The increased business means the cooperative will soon add three more women employees.
