Peter Roper-Curzon plays the Scriabin Etude in D Sharp Minor Op.8 No.12 for his encore after a live performance in 2004 at St. John's Church in Notting Hill, London. I see this work as an incarnation of Alexander Scriabin's personal hell. The constantly agonizing chord striking that span octaves by right hand, the treacherous 11th stretches in the left that also endures a storm of fatiguing jumps. Truly a consortium of physically and metally draining technical challenges that only the champions of the piano can overcome at this level. I have two fantastic artists for granting me use of their works. Many thanks to Julia Starr and David Beaty. Please be sure to visit their galleries on deviantART.
