Weatherproof Outerwear company posted an unauthorized billboard in Times Square NYC using an image of US president Barack Obama at The Great Wall of China which was purchased from the Associated Press. The photo was taken by Charles Dharapak of The Associated Press and Weatherproof purchased the right to use it from AP Images, the newsgathering organizations commercial photo arm. The AP agreement with Weatherproof required the company to seek any necessary clearances, said Paul Colford, a spokesman for The AP. The company said they needed two weeks to create a new campaign for the space and considered using Sarah Palin for the spot. The White House has a long-standing policy disapproving of the use of the President's name and likeness for advertising purposes Ryan Janek Wolowski Times Sqaure New York City January 15th 2010
