When Sarah arrived for addiction treatment at The Recovery Place, she brought years of pain and trauma along with her. Her traumas started in elementary school. âI was molested,â Sarah shares, âand cutting myself was a way of feeling a different type of pain, so that I didnât have to feel the emotional pain.â Sarah knew she had to learn a new way to deal with life, and to cope with the trauma and pain. When Sarah came to The Recovery Place inpatient addiction recovery program she was sick of feeling the emotional pain. She was sick of cutting herself, and using drugs to dull her pain. Receiving support and learning new tools and life skills to manage her pain is working for Sarah. Sheâs been clean now for 90 days. Having people to trust and talk to, both staff and peers at The Recovery Place, is helping her recovery.
