http://www.gwm-tv.com - China is looking to satisfy its rocketing demand for wood and associated materials by importing more logs and wood chips from countries like Brazil.
Figures for the second quarter of 2010, show that a tightening domestic supply has pushed up prices by nearly 17 per cent year-on-year.
And while China has primarily turned to Russia to bolster its supply, a 25 per cent log export tax imposed in 2008 is turning Chinese businesses and authorities to countries like Brazil and Papua New Guinea for better value wood.
