Sometimes I sit out here, even when it's freezing cold, in the middle of January, when I should be doing my homework. It's my escape. Up here, I'm free. I can see as far as I can until my eyes reach the hills, but they are so far away i feel bigger, smarter somehow.
Sometimes I trench my way through snow and ice to the park, where I swing myself to heaven. I can't actually touch the sky, but I think I could, if I just pushed higher.
Sometimes I take the long way home, just to linger, to hold onto the peacefulness. It's my road, wide open just for me and it reminds me of that journey. How everyone is walking here. How sometimes, even if we're alone, we're not.
