More at http://umc.org/videos/ Almost 40% of U.S. homeless are under the age of 18. Often these young people come from lives of abuse, drug dependency, and sometimes mental imbalances like schizophrenia. A medical team in Arizona has spent the last 10 years reaching out to homeless teens. The United Methodist Outreach Ministries of Phoenix supports a full-service clinic in an RV. Doctors treat everything from colds and flu, to referrals for depression and attempted suicide. They also offer gentle life coaching that has helped a lot of young patients go on to college, nursing school, and better futures. Medical Director Dr. Randy Christensen says, âMy biggest dream is to continue to educate people on how worthwhile these kids are, how terrible their life has been before but just how much of success they can have if just given half a chance.â
