Major fire consumed one of the six apartment blocks of the South Shore Beach and Tennis Club complex, at Shorepoint Court / Westline Drive in Alameda on the morning of Saturday, Dec 18, 2011. We live across the street and at first thought it was one of the occasional false alarms, but this time was for real! Initial word is that a faulty electric wall heater started the fire while the tenant was in the shower. About 20 families lost their homes just days before Christmas.
