Monday's Meeting August 13: Rick Finch, Director, Fort Meigs - "Fort Meigs in the Fight for the Old Northwest" Known more today for its green space and park-like setting, Fort Meigs was a battleground that played a crucial role in the fight for the Old Northwest during the War of 1812. Fort Meigs withstood two sieges by the British and their Indian allies. These two victories at Fort Meigs mark a turning point in the western theater of war in favor of the American forces and ushered in a series of American victories which ultimately lead to the defeat of the British forces in Upper Canada and placed control of the western theater of war into American hands. Join Rick Finch, site director, as he explores the significance of Fort Meigs and how the battles that were fought here shaped the future of Ohio.
