Gilgit Baltistan, Dec 29: Rising unemployment has become a major concern for educated youth in Gilgit Baltistan. The lack of job opportunities and low standards of education have made it difficult for them to secure jobs. Despite being rich in natural resources, Gilgit Baltistan has not done very well in realising its economic potential. In the absence of industries, there are not enough jobs on offer. The people of Gilgit Baltistan blame the administration for failing to come out with effective policies for the welfare of locals. Not much has been done to promote tourism and farming sectors in the region. Pakistan has built many dams in Gilgit Baltistan to exploit abundant water resources and generate electricity for its provinces. However, the people in Gilgit Baltistan are forced to live in darkness. With no government help reaching the public, the people have no option but to accept their fate.
