To most tourists, the Thai people are a friendly bunch. However, the Thai culture is very different to that of most western visitors. What may seem to a tourist as completely inoffensive, could be considered as incredible rude and offensive by Thais. Conversely, what Thais deem as completely acceptable may seem completely unacceptable by western standards. As a guest in Thailand it is incumbent upon you to adapt to their culture and society, and not vice versa.
