Cape Breton Highlands Circuitous roads traverse forested ridgelines and dramatic coastal cliffs where eagles soar, whales spout in the distance and moose amble by the roadside. Tackle this national park as a one- to three-day trip, but make sure you buckle your boots at least once to explore trails that pass by pristine streams, waterfalls and abundant wildflowers to ever more stunning vistas. On the coast, paddle a kayak or take a whale-watching tour to look for minke whales, seabirds and seals. Half the fun is getting there.
