just a quick recap, we were talking about AA's inability to cope with gender, sexual orientation, and race issues, besides the fact that they don't give a crap about your personal safety, perticularly if prominant members are involved. truth be known, if you mention any such problem, anonymity is actually the first thing that goes right out the window, since what they do is start sharing your personal life and confidential information, and then send other members to stalk and harass you in the streets and at other meetings, either with the intention of unnerving you with personal detials or with the express intention of taking notes on your words and actions and spreading around the grapevine within the entire AA community. as if that isn't enough, they also create their own stories and purposely circulate false information simply to sow dissention and dissolve any chance at resolution. your friends and contacts are also notified so that your ability to converse with them is easily suspended. even your ability to attend meeting is withheld: i've been kicked out of meeting i reguarly attended because i wanted to get in tough with friends who would help me in the matter. Hope Lutheran on July 10 of last year is a good example. i was always under the impression that the requirement for membership was to stop drinking. apparently not.
