Snapped is a popular TV show about women accused of murder. The tagline is 'and then she snapped'. That simple phrase is quite brilliant. That is exactly what happens to so many people who end up in hospital. The important word in that expression is the word 'then'. In integrative health, we use the analogy of an elastic band. It usually 'snaps', when it already under tension or frayed. Identifying and dealing with the things in your life that stress you, can give you the resilience you need to withstand new stresses as they come along. People rarely just snap or break. There is usually a prelude of small stresses followed by a 'then event' or a tipping point. It is hard to eliminate 'then events' from out lives but we can stop them from becoming tipping points. What can you do today, to reduce your chances of ever snapping?
