Since we have been making cast aluminum skulls I thought it would be fitting to show what the process was for making a base and mounting the aluminum skulls on nice little steel pins. In my quest for free materials for the furnace I collected bags and bags of aluminum soda cans. I purchased a Can Crusher from Harbor Freight...but it is an ArmStrong unit....use it and you'll be arm-strong!!! USinga air cylinder from Graingers and a Parker valve along with scrap iron bits I built up a suitable Can Crusher using compressed air. In this episode I try to cast a Halloween pumpkin made of foam. I got it at the craft store when buying skulls but it is a different kind of foam and is covered with glitter....so we'll have to see. Greets All, again this video shows more of the preparation of the casting flasks using lost foam (pink insulation from Home Depot) to make up some gift plaques and of course we pour a few more skulls. For years I have mined old firing ranges for the spent bullet jackets which we recycle and reuse for new rounds or fishing sinkers. In this episode I fire up the turkey burner and my old dutch oven lead pot and proceed to show how I clean out 50lbs of range lead. I pour some nice 5 lb ingots and make some 6 and 8oz egg sinkers and a nice 1 lb bank sinker...shows the molds and how I pour them. Another MarksWorx session, in this vid I'm going to try and show how I set up lost foam patterns/molds in dry play sand and then cast them in aluminum recyled from soda cans. So its more shots of skulls and plaques and actually pouring and shaking out then fire burning furnace pix. Check out the glow of that crucible after a couple melts. This ran long so I broke it into 2 parts rather then cut out a bunch of stuff. Stay Safe.
