Living Room Rock Gods - LRRG - Original - Collaboration

I really like this LRRG thing. So much so, that I wrote a song about it. I asked Korgrandi http://www.youtube.com/user/korgrandi to do the bass, coz I know him well and he's always great on the bass.
For the guitar I asked Mymassivehead http://www.youtube.com/user/mymassive... coz he likes a lot of bands I like too. And he looked like a solid player to me. Although he says on his channel that he doesn't do leads, he offered to do one anyway and it came out great.

Sounds a lot like one of Rammstein's songs actually. I think I unconsciencely ripped off one of their riffs :-)

I programmed the drums and synths in Reason again. Someday I hope to do a collaboration with a real drummer.

Hope you enjoy this one.

Rock & Roll Is Here To Stay - Original - LRRG - Durango

A song I wrote in the eighties when I played in Durango. I wrote it in 5 minutes, just before going off to the rehearsal room. It's weird that sometimes a song comes up just like that and with others you're working on it for weeks. Durango was a Ramones type punkband. We played half originals and half covers. Covers were mostly all songs of the first album of the Kids (Belgium). I recorded two vocal tracks and three guitar tracks. The extra guitar is just in the beginning and the bridge parts. Programmed drums and bass in Reason. Captured my vocals and guitar with my Edirol soundcard and mixed everything in Cool Edit. I tried to do some effects in Sony Vegas. My son wanted to see his head explode. I found this tutorial from Little Rich. http://www.youtube.com/user/richw4 He has great tutorials on some Vegas effects. The fire, exploding head and blood came from http://www.detonationfilms.com They have a lot of effects you can download for free. The exploding head didn't come out great, you can see lots of mismatched stuff. I shouldn't have filmed my son so close to that background coz of the shadows. The split screen also comes from Little Rich's tutorials.

She's My Everything - Original - LRRG - Collaboration

My wife kept asking when I was finally gonna make a song for her. Well, finally it's here. And on Valentine's day!
Thanks a million to Glake http://www.youtube.com/user/stoptherobot for doing the guitar part with his new pedal the Digitech RP70. I think he used the 'punk setting' for this song. It sounds most excellent! Also thanks to Korgrandi http://www.youtube.com/user/korgrandi for doing the bass again. His playing is tight as hell as always! I used my Cry Baby Wah pedal to record my guitar. Just to get a different sound. I'm only using 2 strings to get that 'droning' sound. I did a little fiddle but it doesn't come out that well. I had to choose between a loud guitar fill and the vocals...so that was no choice actually. Vocals always win. I recorded two lead vocal tracks again and two harmony tracks. I tried to make a 'twin' guitar solo. It's nothing special that solo. But I think it sounds alright. Anything harder and I would've broken my fingers. I programmed the drums and organ in Reason again.

Walk Like An Egyptian - Bangles Cover

I used to play this song in the eighties with my band The Treat. When it was a number one hit, we were just clowning around in the rehearsal room with the song. We didn't know exactly how it went so we left out the solo and put our own part in there, shouting 'Egyptians say go!'. We used to play it at shows and everybody loved it. The ending would be like 2 minutes of noise. Just ramming that B chord til everybody got sick of it. No solo stuff, no drumfills, just cymbals and that B chord. I redid the vocals because you can see I don't know the words exactly (You can see me reading sometimes when I look to the left where I had the lyrics lying on the table). I can't find my mic stand anywhere so the mic was hanging just out of the screen. Useless anyway, coz I didn't use that vocal track. Korgrandi did the bass playing. Although he's more into Black Sabbath, I like it that he doesn't mind doing this simple stuff. Visit his youtube channel here http://www.youtube.com/user/korgrandi Guitar has to be downpicking all the time like the Ramones do. Not only for the sound, but it just looks damn lazy when you don't do that. Just follow that hi-hat baby!
Rolling Stones Get Off Off My Cloud Cover LRRG

I like the old Stones songs. What they do nowadays should be forbidden but in the old days they were cool. My mom had a 45" of this tune and as a kid I loved this song. Me and my sister used to play airguitar when we put it on the old plastic turntable and jump around the room. I used my little Fender amp to record one guitartrack and I also plugged the mic in there to record the vocals and used the headphone jack to send the signal to my Edirol soundcard. I wanted an old-fashioned sound. I put a bit of pre-amp on the Fender so the vocals are a tiny bit distorted to make it more oldies-sounding. Drums and bass were programmed in Reason as usual. The bass constantly doing the high A and B notes on the D string which I love. Gives it more energy and that buzzing sound. I also put an organ in it because I couldn't figure out what the hell Brian Jones and Keith Richard were playing on their guitars, so to hell with difficult guitar parts and let the organ fill it up a bit. I don't use tabs. I don't even know how to read them. Too difficult. For the verses I only put 1 vocal track. In the chorus I added a couple of vocal tracks. Also put in some handclaps. For the video I taped some of my gear and put it in there, otherwise it's pretty boring just to stare at myself standing there singing :-)

Beautiful - Original - LRRG

I made this song for my son.
I've put a lot of instruments in this song. I programmed everything in Reason (drums, bass, organ, some synth thingie). Then I recorded two regular guitars you see me playing, plus I added some clean guitar you can hardly hear in the chorus parts (didn't videotape that, pretty boring to see). I recorded the vocals live while playing the guitar, then I added one more vocal track exactly the same as the first so you get that nice effect you can never accomplish with any mechanical effect. In the chorus I also added high harmony vocals and in the bridge some ooooo's.
When I started mixing it I felt something was missing, so in the chorus I added one more loud distorted guitar. Gives it more punch.

I put some pics and videos of my son in there. He loves playing the drums on Rockband. By accident I had some video of him banging away in the same beat as this song so I put that in there.

Attitude - The Misfits - Cover - LRRG - Collaboration

Finally a song with a REAL drummer! Me and Korgrandi always wanted to record Attitude of the Misfits. So I asked Hannah http://www.youtube.com/user/drumplayher if she wanted to do the drums. And she did a great job! She's only 14 years old. I'll definately ask her again for a collaboration. I recorded two guitar tracks, two vocal tracks and Korgrandi did the extra "Attitude" shouting at the end. Ofcourse he also did the bass http://www.youtube.com/user/korgrandi I also added some effects in the video just to see what I could do with Sony Vegas. Enjoy everyone!
