Director John Huston, while a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1943, creates an Academy Award winning documentary, which he narrates with assistance from his actor father Walter, treating of the Armed Forces' successful effort to prevent the fall of the Aleutian Islands to advancing Japanese troops who had captured several islets. Although no claim can be reasonably made that this location was of major strategic importance during the War, it presented enormous tactical and logistic difficulty for those assigned there, and Huston's color film demonstrates the determined ensemble work upon the outpost of Adak by a wide range of military specialists who combat loneliness and boredom along with notably severe weather conditions.

Ev; her husband, Harold; and their lawyer friend, Martin, are skindiving while on vacation in Puerto Rico. When they resurface, they gradually conclude that an unexplained, temporary interruption of oxygen has killed everyone on the island - maybe in the world!

Documentary of the US efforts to take Italy by acclaimed director John Huston. The US Army which commissioned the film refused to show it because it was too honest in its portrayal of the high cost of battle and the difficulties faced.

"The Battle of Midway," directed by John Ford, provides a relatively brief account of the Japanese attack of American ships at Midway atoll. The film is comprised mostly of authentic footage from the battle, with dramatic narration by Henry Fonda. "Behind every cloud, there may be an enemy," he intones as American fighter pilots search the sky. The rest of the film mocks Emporer Tojo of Japan and portrays him as ruthless, bombing hospitals and churches as he tries to conquer the Pacific.

"The Fighting Lady," directed by William Wyler, provides a portrait of life on a World War II aircraft carrier, a vessel that is "enormous, wonderful, and strange to us." After profiling the various activities of the soldiers' day and following the ship's voyage through the Panama Canal, the film takes the audience through a litany of actual combat engagements. The Fighting Lady participates in a strike on the Marcus Islands, then defends itself against a surprise nighttime raid by Japanese fighters. Some of the photography comes from cameras set up in the cockpits of American planes, showing first hand what it's like to be diving through enemy anti-aircraft fire. The film culminates in a major confrontation with the Imperial Japanese Battle Fleet. In this massive operation, later dubbed the "Marianas Turkey Shoot," American pilots downed almost four hundred Japanese Zeros, while incurring only twenty-two losses themselves.

These are Excellent videos for those who would like to know more about rifle shooting. They are great for both the beginner and the expert who needs a refresher. The series focuses on the M1 garand, but the techniques can be applied to any rifle. part one covers sling usage and shooting positions. Part 2 covers sight adjustments and also has one of the BEST explanations of windage adjustments EVER. The film was made in 1942/43 for the war department and is now in the public domain, so it can be copied and recopied at will. In 1920, King Alexander of Greece died from a monkey bite. His sudden, untimely death was one of the first in a series of disasters that ultimately led to the Greek Catastrophe in Asia Minor of 1922. Who cares? Well, in this piece I wanted to make the point that history is full of strange, absurd events. There is always the element of chaos underneath everything. In Greece, there are innumerable nationalist documentaries exploring the actions of men like Eleftherios Venizelos (women are notably absent, of course) but there is no acknowledgement of chance as a determining factor in history. There are even conspiracy theories about Alexander's death that point to his doctors; people find it truly unthinkable that a king - especially a Bavarian/Danish import - could die from the infected bite of a monkey.

First parody of MPAA's "Stuntmen Make Movies". ... Produced for R4NT.COM. "School of the Dead" is a real movie. I was playing a zombie extra, and grabbed a couple shots when I wasn't busy. Rest of parody was built on top of that. Tried to emulate MPAA ad's music, but am musically retarded. Remembered a Globe and Mail article about some guy who writes songs for people as a hobby. SongsToWearPantsTo.Com solved the music problem and the ad stopped sucking.
