Salem Township Board of Trustees meeting May 8, 2012 Salem Township Treasurer Paul Uherek admits that he had possession of a set of documents that have been denied for public inspection (via FOIA) specifically because of their claim that "the township does not have possession of the documents". These documents were sent to the Salem Township Clerk on multiple occasions and apparently were "sanitized" by the Salem Township (contract) Attorney Edward Plato and Carol Rosati of the Johnson-Rosati law firm. Contention lies in the elements of whether or not if physical possession of the documents by the Salem Township contracted lawyer counts is equivalent as possession by the Salem Township government and therefore is subject to disclosure. Also, there is confusion why Salem Township continued to deny possession of the documents for over eight months when they were physically in their possession at the Salem Township government offices (document packets were sent via "Hand Delivery" by Salem Springs, LLC legal council) dated October 28, 2011.
