This short advertisement tells the story of Bala and his mother Suji, both of whom were living in darkness until they received sight-restoring cataract surgery. This surgery was made possible by the generosity of people like you.

Sightsavers met Talla, from The Gambia, when he was just 5 years old. He was suffering from a painful eye disease called trachoma. It can lead to permanent blindness, but requires only a course of antibiotics costing just 50p to treat it.

Two thirds of blind peoeple are women, as they are often last in line for health care. We try to ensure our projects benefit everyone.
