The Power Tower II is supposedly the largest portable freefall drop ride in the world! Scary enough to play "Ghostbusters" as they drop. This Oktoberfest party hit favorite song is from the Spider Murphy Gang. Skandal Im Sperrbezirk is about... well... Munich's most famous (fictional?) "Lady of the Night," Rosi! Here's a short compilation of snowboard carving from Jan + Feb 2010. The riders are Peti, Lowcarver, and Alexey; they are riding boards from Oxess, Virus, and Prior. The first clip is at Zillertal Arena, and the rest are at Hintertux glacier. The video was made with a Canon Vixia HF200 and Kenko 0.5 wide angle, helmet-top-mounted, then stabilized with Virtualdub and Deshaker. The Kenko lens has a bit of barrel distortion which I think is leading to the slight distorted effect at the edges when there is heavy vibration. Shutter speed from 1/250 to 1/500.

A lot of racing teams train at glaciers before the snow falls at lower altitudes. In December I met a couple of young women at Hintertux in the Austrian Alps, from a Dutch snowboard racing team. They rode nice Kessler boards with race plates, if I remember. Here's the best footage! (it's a coed team, but most of the shots are from the two girls I met early in the day). The shutter speed was a bit slow, that's why there are some seconds where it goes fuzzy (even after stabilization with VirtualDub and Deshaker).

This is the amazing moving sculpture at the entrance of the BMW Museum in Munich. A masterpiece of art and computer control mixed together. If you're a car lover I highly recommend this museum when visiting Muenchen!

Munich goes wild with champagne and fireworks on New Year's Eve. Here was the scene just after midnight, 2010 at the Reichenbachbruecke. Einen guten Rutsch ins neues Jahr!

After a lot of work playing with stabilizing programs: here it is! Near-steadycam stability from a helmet-mounted, consumer-grade full HD camcorder. This was made with a Canon HF200. Soon I'll have a ring sight on the helmet, and a higher shutter speed will reduce the blurring.

In September 2009, I climbed Zugspitze via the "Klettersteigroute" - up the Höllental (Valley of Hell). Here's part 2 of the adventure, with a view from the first via ferrata ascent, the hike up the glacier, and amazing vistas from the rock face below the peak! Music by Danny Galixy, http://galixy.net.
