Back on the black top and reaching an iconic milestone, today Tod and Morgan head to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. These two magnificent rock formations symbolise the Australian Outback and are important features of indigenous Aboriginal culture.

It doesn't get any more remote than this - carrying fuel, camping in the desert, the only structure a flag pole depicting the geographic centre of Australia. Then yet another long dusty day on dirt as the guys fly along the South Australia & Northern Territory state border on the way to tomorrow's destination - Uluru.

Every year the world's craziest and most talented cross-country off-road motorbikers gather in the middle of Australia's outback for the 267km desert race from Alice Springs to Finke and then back. Today, Tod and Morgan achieve a long-held ambition of completing that ride. Albeit, not as a race nor always on track, this was an important milestone for the Wheel2Wheel expedition. Its time to ride ... after a week's waiting the boys are now in the saddle and off ... down into the centre of Australia where road-trains, kangaroos and the horizon are all they'll see for days.

Morgan continues to wait for his motorbike to be off-loaded by Perkins shipping company at the Port of Darwin. So to distract him from the frustration, Tod suggests they head to the track because its the biggest race day of the year in Darwin!

Frustrating delays waiting for Morgan's bike to be unloaded in Darwin, mean the boys take to the road in a rental 4WD to see some of the Northern Territory's key national parks.

A rough day for Morgan. Accommodations on Sumbawa were harsh and provided no sleep. Up before the light to catch the 8 hour ferry ride to Flores. No food and no sleep will make this a long ride. Luckily there are good people on board to make the time go by.

The island of Sumbawa is very large, but has few amenities. Morgan finds it difficult to get lodging, food, water and fuel. All necessary to make this trip. The roads are mostly dirt and the going is tough.

Morgan started at the Sheraton in Lombok; beautiful and familiar. Troubles with the ferries made the transfer to Sumbawa difficult, but upon arrival it all got better. Sumbawa is like going back 50 years in time.

A team of three metalworkers spent 3 hours banging, bashing, welding and straightening the bike's pannier rack and right pannier box. A perfect job ... big thanks to all concerned for this generosity and hospitality in Bandung on a Sunday!

He made it 75 days, through 8 countries and over 16,000kms with countless near-misses and death-defying moments. Today that all changed when a scooter over-taking a heavy vehicle struck Morgan's motorcycle head-on. After clearing 45km of Jakarta's tangled traffic, tragedy struck. A motor scooter traveling at high speed collided with Morgan's BMW bike. The other guy was rushed to hospital for extensive surgery as Morgan, unhurt, tries to pick up the pieces and make sure the other man receives the best of care.

ts 3 am ..... Morgan is shattered, but safe and sound at the Le Meridien Jakarta, thank goodness he completed the epic ride from Lake Toba. This was a test of strength and endurance.

Today Morgan's BMW F800GS went in for its first service since leaving HK on 1 March. Being bike-less left Morgan feeling glum. However his mood was quickly resurrected by the generous offer of Derek van Pelt from Siam Wheels to spend the afternoon tearing around Bangkok on the world's #1 superbike - the BMW S1000RR. Derek, Alan and Siren Films Director Ed Bean joined in the adrenaline-pumping action. We are told the afternoon's footage, captured by award-winning documentary cinematographer Grant Douglas, was spectacular. We will have to wait for the Wheel2Wheel television broadcast in late 2011 to see!

Very little footage was captured for YouTube, however the upcoming Wheel2Wheel television series will provide an in-depth look at the remarkable achievements of Baan Gerda and its 86 child residents.

Alan and Morgan reflect on what they have seen after a few hours on site with Karl Morsbach at Baan Gerda. Baan Gerda is Thailand's only family home-stay style HIV / AIDS orphanage. 86 children are growing up strong, well-educated, ready to live their lives and contribute to society ... their ONLY remaining obstacle is our prejudice and the stigma of being HIV-infected.

Songkran is the name given to the Thai New Year festival. The Wheel2Wheel expedition just happened to be passing through Thailand, specifically Pattaya and Bangkok, when the celebrating reached their wettest.
