Operation UNITE hosted the $200-a-plate Bluegrass Policy Forum on Substance Abuse, Oct. 29, 2012, at the Wilkinson-Stumbo Convention Center at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, in Prestonsburg, Ky. The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion about issues of substance abuse, particularly prescription painkillers, by high-profile state leaders, including Gov. Steve Beshear; U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers; House Speaker Greg Stumbo, Sen. Robert Stivers, who has since been elected Senate president; House Majority Floor Leader Rocky Adkins; and Sen. Brandon Smith, who has since been elected Senate Majority Whip. The discussion was moderated by KET's Renee Shaw. This video marks the first time the entirety of the panel discussion has been made public.

Randy Steidl, who spent 12 years on death row and five more years in prison for a crime he did not commit, speaks at Big Sandy Community and Technical College, Nov. 29, 2012. Steidl now works with Witness to Innocence, which lobbies for abolition of the death penalty.
