When we apply the Gospel, the death, burial and resurection, as we repent from our sins get baptized in the Name of Jesus fully in the water, and filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, we become a new creature, another wards a new man or a new woman in Christ no longer doing the things we use ta, because we get set free and delivered by the Power of God.
