THE HILLIANS was a Nepali band from Darjeeling during 60s and 70s. The sixties saw many talents emerge and everyone wanted to be like the Beatles. So the first band formed here was the "Hillians" a.k.a "The Sikkimese Beatles". For the founder of "The Hillians", Peter. ****arthak, it was his religion Christianity that was the foundation of his musical learning. He used to sing in the choir regularly in the church. This enflamed the fire in him to enter the real music world.
While Hiking the Annapurna Circuit in the Nepal Himalaya, I decided to take the road less traveled to reach Lake Tilicho (a rarely used and very difficult path rising to 5000m, instead of the normal river side route used by Sherpas). The views were incredible and I was in high spirits until I heard a sounds behind me, a little rockslide built into a roar and quickly became a full on landslide, wiping out my way back. I was alone and had no choice but to press on, praying all the while it didn't happen again!
