The Popular Podcast #195: East Side Pies Vegan PizzaWe used to eat East Side at least once a week when we were eating cheese, often more. In fact, our addiction to ESP was one of the contributing factors to us giving up cheese forever. It was just too fucking good! We were addicted!
You can imagine our delight when we found out their dough and tomato sauce are both vegan. At least, this is what the confident man on the phone told us; I hope he knew his shit.
When we finally broke down, though, and ordered one (probably on a lazy, hungover saturday afternoon), we were disappointed that the pizza was sparsely topped. We went with the large âNacho Veggieâ with no cheese. I specifically asked for XTRA veggies to make up for the lack of cheese. The pie is $24, so it wouldnât seem unreasonable that, with the lack of cheese, they could load up the veggies to make it worth our money. That wasnât the case.
We paid over $20 for some dough and 1/4 of an avocado. Not impressed, and frankly pretty sad that I canât (read: donât want to) support ESP anymore :/
