The ancient societies had an ample supply of all three. Our modern society barely bothers with any of that. Some differences are painfully obvious, such as when villagers know to go to higher ground "because the gods are having an argument." Or the fact that it takes The Pope to remind us that something like The Resurrection does not contradict science, but is beyond science.
