"The Voice Calling from the Sea"Eiko invites Shin to go out with her as she investigate the abandoned Japanese Coast Guard Deep Submergence Vehicle. Eiko reveals to Shin how Ryo had been potentially guilty when he agreed to consent to a brain transfer for Jun, which explained the appearance of Yuki a few days by Shin and Ryo. Eiko also tells Shin of an attack that she experienced in college as a nautical diver. In the midst of the investigation in the waters near the Ayanagi City coastline, the same feathers began to cover almost the entire sea. Shin once again encounters the mysterious woman in a dream, trying to reach out to him.

This movie’s biggest draw in the time it was made was the fact that it was set largely underwater and was shot in the panoramic Cinemascope. One of the taglines even brags that it can be watched without the aid of special glasses. The plot is the story of a Greek father and son diving team who fish for sea sponges off the Florida coast. They are in direct competition with another family, the Rhys,’ who are hook boat fishermen. This competition for turf leads to many violent fights, and during one of these, Tony, the son of the Greek diver, meets Gwyneth Rhys, daughter of the Rhys patriarch. They fall in love, despite the enmity between their families. When Tony’s father tragically dies in a diving accident on the 12-mile reef, the Rhys’ take the opportunity to loot his boat and burn it down. Tony and Gwyneth try to run away together on her boat, only to be run down by her father and one of his ruthless henchmen. In the end, all is resolved, but only after a fight with a huge octopus.

Back for our first dive at this pier since hurricane Felix passed by. The bottom did take a beating and we saw fewer overall fish, but still lots of good fish and critter interactions! Got in a bit north of the usual and went up to the marina entrance. Like a lot of dives in this area, we saw a lot of interesting things. Best was a pink Longlure Frogfish sitting on a pink sponge. Species seen: Creolefish, Isopod, French Angelfish, Giant Anemone, Hawksbill Turtle, Longlure Frogfish, Long-spined Sea Urchin, Maculated Flounder, Ocean Surgeonfish, Peacock Flounder, Porcupinefish, Sand Diver, Spotted Cleaner Shrimp, Spotted Scorpionfish, Squat Anemone Shrimp, Tiger Grouper, Touch-me-not Sponge, Trumpetfish, Yellowhead Jawfish.
