Watertown Area Cares Clinic - The Birth & Beginning Part 3A community of approximately 25,000 residents, Watertown, Wisconsin, located in the midst of Milwaukee and Madison, had the foresight to see the health care needs for those residents who are uninsured. With a partnership between health care providers, the city, its business base and residents, the concept of the Watertown Area Cares Clinic was born. The Watertown Area Cares Clinic (WACC) is made up of a diverse group of people from our community. They are committed to bringing quality healthcare to a forgotten segment of our society - the working uninsured. The WACC provides health services to the uninsured whose income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. Services will include physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and medications. The clinic does not bill patients for services. As a division of the Dodge and Jefferson Healthier Community Partnerships, it is a charitable medical organization relying completely on the generosity of donors. The Watertown Area Cares Clinic provides free primary medical care, a financial assistance program for prescription medications for uninsured adults and their families in the greater Watertown area. Medical care is provided by volunteer physicians and nurse practitioners, and the WACC's on-staff nurse practitioner. Patients are seen by appointment only at our clinic. An additional part of our mission is to educate young health care providers, who work under the supervision of a fully licensed practitioner and to accumulate information in support of a comprehensive policy for access to health care.
