The Life in The UK Test has become mandatory for any person applying for for settlement ie indefinite leave to remain ILR in the United Kingdom or British Citizenship after 28th October 2013. In addition to the Life in the UK Test one will also need to complete a B1 test which is an English language test equivalent to an ESOL entry level 3. The B1 test involves Speaking and Listening as part of applications submitted for settlement and Citizenship. The Life in the UK test requires one to sit the test at a Government affiliated test centre. One will require at least 18 marks out of 24 to pass the test.
