This video archive with accompanying essays traces internationally-renowned media and conceptual artist Peter Weibel's artistic developments from his beginnings through 1979. Weibel started out in 1964 as a visual poet, and was soon transferring the structures of the visual culture from the page to the screen, while still retaining the model of language as one of perception. Later, he developed a critical impulse that turned not only against art but also against society and the media itself. This specific development from the page via the screen to gallery space -- all happening as early as the 1960s -- anticipated many of the trends that were later to be described as conceptual art, context art, institutional criticism, and intervention.
With an accompanying booklet featuring contributions by Boris Groys, Günther Holler-Schuster, Aaron Levy, Osvaldo Romberg, and Christa Steinle.
Riding the Rails offers a visionary perspective on the presumed romanticism of the road and cautionary legacy of the Great Depression. From 'middle class gentility to scrabble-ass poor,' the undiscriminating Great Depression forced 4,000,000 Americans away from their homes and onto the tracks in search of food and lodging. Of this number, a disturbing 250,000 of the transients were children. The filmmakers relay the experiences and painful recollections of these now-elderly survivors of the rails. Forced to travel more by economic necessity than the spirit of adventure, the film's subjects dispel romantic myths of a hobo existence and its corresponding veneer of freedom. Riding the Rails recounts the hoboes' trade secrets for survival and accounts of dank miseries, loneliness, imprisonment, death, and dispossession. Sixty years later, the filmmakers transport their subjects back to the tracks, where the surging impact of sound and movement resuscitates memories of a shattered adolescence and devastating rite of passage.

From the looks of it, they did an extraordinary job in preserving and giving it style. On the List TV was lucky enough to get a great tour and roam free about the hotel to give a little insight into the history of the hotel while showing off the decor, ballrooms, hotel rooms and even a condo that sits on one of the top levels of the Book Cadillac. There was so much to this hotel that Domenic and Tiffany may go back for seconds in a later episode...tune in to find out.

2011 Infiniti M Virtual Reveal. In a classic variation on the "now-you-see-it, now-you-don't" exercise, Infiniti employed a unique "video mapping" process to present a virtual preview of its upcoming 2011 M sedan on the eve of the 59th annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The first-ever use of this advanced technology for an automotive intro literally involved projecting a series of computer-generated renderings of the new M onto a 3-D foam matrix shaped to mimic its shape and proportions. Infiniti plans an in-the-metal presentation of the new M later this year prior to its going on sale worldwide in early 2010. Georgia (Nia Vardalos) came to Greece to follow a man. A few years later, she's been cast aside -- alone and adrift in a foreign land. Eventually, her passion for history leads her to a job as a tour guide. But Georgia is bored, and has lost her "kefi" (Greek for mojo) to boot. When taciturn sasquatch Poupi (Alexis Georgoulis) replaces the regular driver at the last minute, the frazzled tour guide thinks that her luck has just hit rock bottom. Thankfully, Georgia's latest batch of tourists is a more lively bunch than she's anticipated, and in between bouts with rival tour guide Nico (Alistair McGowan), she manages to form a genuine connection with wisecracking widower Irv (Richard Dreyfuss), a solo vacationer who maintains a jovial facade despite the fact that he misses his late wife dearly. With a little help from Irv, Georgia comes to realize that true love may be closer than she thinks -- if she could just recapture her kefi and open her eyes.

Negi Springfield is a nine year old wizard from Wales who dreams of becoming a Magister Magi (Latin "Master Mage"), special wizards who use their powers to help normal people using covers such as working for NGOs. Negi's reason for becoming a Magister Magi is to find his father, Nagi Springfield, the legendary mage also known as the "Thousand Master" who many believe to be dead. After graduating from the Merdiana Magic Academy in Wales, he is given a duty as a cover in the real world, and training, before he actually becomes a Magister Magi. That duty is to become an English teacher at Mahora Academy in Japan. The task will not be easy, however, as Negi will become a teacher to a middle school class of 31 older girls, each very special in her own way. The series details his time and adventures in Japan as he gains acceptance and respect from his students, helps them in their problems, and faces magical threats from inside and outside Mahora Academy. His main relationship is with Asuna Kagurazaka, his student and roommate, who dislikes him initially but later accepts him as a friend and becomes his guardian, helping find clues about his father and his life.

It would be nice to be able to tell you that I am not a vain person, but the truth is that it is hard to shake free of the socialization we receive in the arms of our families, the confines of our schoolrooms and the cocoons of the various other social institutions that contribute to the identity and sense of self that we carry into our later lives. I grew up in one of those infamous Garrison Keillor families âÂÂâ where all the women are strong, the men are good-looking and the children are above average.â That said, I have worked diligently over my lifetime to instill some humility into my soul and some of the painful experiences that life inevitably brings have knocked me around enough that I can eat crow with the best of them.
But one of my biggest hurdles is one that IâÂÂm currently working through which stands in the way of my being the successful entrepreneur that I aspire to be. I realize that I define myself by the attributes of my education and previous professional accomplishments, and sometimes that gets in my way of going forward into new and uncharted territories.

In the early eighties, Brad Hirschfield moved from the suburbs of Chicago to the West Bank city of Hebron to join a fanatical Israeli sect determined to reclaim the Jewish state within it's Biblical boundaries. Looking back he says, "I'm very grateful frankly that I don't know whether my bullets found their mark" referring to when he fired weapons at human targets.
Nearly three decades later, Brad has backed away from Hebron and turned his back on the violence imposed by religious extremism in efforts to create a worldwide multi-faith conflict resolution initiative he refers to as "Bridge Building".

The Slits are probably the single most important all-girl punk band in the history of music. A bold statement, we know, but certainly not a controversial one. As a 14 year old, Ari Up served as the band's flamboyant front woman and helped develop The Slits' pioneering punky reggae sound. She grew up in England surrounded by punk royalty. Her mother, who is married to John Lydon of the Sex Pistols, ran a sort of punk house, where it wasn't uncommon to have people like The Clash and Jimi Hendrix roll through.
After the demise of The Slits, Ari went on to form the New Age Steppers with Nenah Cherry and Mark Stewart of The Pop Group. She moved to Brooklyn in the eighties and later to Belize, where she lived naked in the jungles to escape the yuppie culture that the decade embraced. Recently, Ari recreated The Slits to pick up the band's unfinished mission to fight for musical expression, women, and cultural freedom. She splits ...

Hamolinadir met Beelzebub on his visit to Babylon and took him to the meetings of the learned beings on the then "burning-question-of- the-day"; namely whether man had a soul. Seven months later, when there was held a "general-learned-Conference" on this subject, amongst all the learned beings of Babylon, both those brought by force and those who came later of their own volition to this centre of learning, both he and Beelzebub attended. Hamolinadir spoke of it but his report was entitled the "Instability of Human Reason", He commenced with a masterly analysis of the head brain but then, becoming more and more agitated, he started to shout, all the time mercilessly criticising his own reason, At this point he broke down but continuing to shout, proved how easy it was to convince the human reason of anything, After calming himself a little with a glass of water he continued with the "Burning-question-of-the-day", showing that the arguments of both those who proved there was a soul and those who proved the contrary to be equally logical and convincing, and that he was an "idiot-cubed". He finished his address by saying that there, now in Babylon, everyone was building a tower by which they could ascend to Heaven to see what was going on. But that as the bricks of this tower were all of different material, some iron, some even eider down, the tower would fall and, as he personally had no desire to be crushed by the tower of Babel, he would leave immediately. There and then he left for Nineveh where he lived happily to a ripe old age growing maize.

Jenkins was arrested in February 2009 during a traffic stop, and charged with assault and refusing to submit to alcohol tests.
The charges were later dropped but police chief Tim Dolan has admitted that some of the responding officers' actions are cause for concern.
A video of the incident has since been released on the request of Jenkins.
It shows several officers arrive at the scene after one policeman tried to make the initial arrest. Many of the backup officers are seen punching and kicking Jenkins as they try to handcuff him.

[Full Free Show] The third and final part of the mini series on "Managing Multiple Macs" (which may be continued at a later date!)
This week, I take at look at how I manage organising and moving my digital images and videos between my laptop and desktop Mac.
As well as the multitude of applications available to use to work on our digital assets, we are faced with an ever expanding number of gadgets and gizmos that enable us to create images and video too. So as well as how to move your digital images and video around, I also take a look at "Cameras" - a simple yet ingenious preference pane application that allows you to configure exactly what happens when you plug your digital devices into your Mac, albeit open iPhoto, Aperture, iMovie, automatically download or even, just do nothing at all.
I also take a look at using external hard drives as an option to swap iPhoto libraries between machines, as well as a third party application called "iPhoto Library Manager". This brilliant application allows ...
