The landfill, less than 2 miles from campus, dominates the landscape and flood plain of the north end of Middletown. It is a perfect laboratory within which to explore the effects of climate change on both wilderness and urban landscapes using the lenses of science and choreography. For example, the contents of the landfill afford the opportunity to explore the climatic consequences of consumerism, energy use, CO2 and methane production. Drive Your Bike is a strange blend of a driving safety and bicycle safety instructional films rolled into one! An adorable young tyke tells his father all about a nifty school program where the children learn to “drive their bikes” – the idea being to learn the rules of driving a car while operating their bicycles. Interspersed throughout are some hilarious shots of kids riding on the hoods of cars and other odd auto pranks illustrated to dissuade people from performing them. The film has even more value since it contains beautiful 1950’s footage of southern California (specifically Burbank and Glendale). My latest work from Andrew Kramer's tutorial, Colorful World. Really interesting to do, but hell lot of work to do, especially creating layers after layers and inserting plugins and expressions. I've spoken before about how well Ed Brubaker writes the humanity of super heroes, and now his characters are regular people. They've all got issues and have been through one thing or another that effects how they think and react. They make decisions and then have to deal with the consequences. Now they are in this moment and dealing with what has been done. Getting to see the crime from different perspectives is great too. Starting working on the sculpt for my Dominance War III entry today. I'm still experimenting and trying to find a workflow I'm comfortable with in ZBrush.
