The event was held at the company's Space Technology sector facility in Redondo Beach, Calif.
Northrop Grumman has a long heritage building Earth observing satellites and sensors, starting with Explorer VI, the first satellite to take a picture of the Earth from space. More recently, it built the Aqua and Aura Earth Observation Satellites for NASA, and is currently building the next-generation low-Earth orbit operational satellite system.

Maria fondly recalls meeting the great Nancy Wilson at Splash in Redondo Beach. She was rendering her interpretation of Who Can I Turn To? with Richard Sherman, when Ms. Wilson stepped up to the bandstand and began to sing. Maria was most willing to pass the microphone to one of her all time idols.
