The BMW Sailing Cup World Final 2008 took place at the Dubai International Marine Club. Nine countries were competing in the high-class amateur racing regatta. The team from Spain has come through to win in Dubai, beating Team Italy 2-0 in the best-of-three final. Three-time America’s Cup winner Russell Coutts handed over the cup to the Spaniards. Ralf Hussmann, General Manager BMW Sports Marketing was very pleased with the good sailing conditions in Dubai with a sea breeze of around 12 knots. All sailing teams experienced unforgettable four racing days in an exotic destination in the Middle East.

Eight novice crews from local companies raced at the Bristol Avon Regatta. Before the race they only had eight sessions in a boat, coxed and coached by City of Bristol club members. All the crews learnt a lot in a very short space of time and provided some entertaining racing on the day.

The Mrduja Regatta has always been a very important event for sailing enthusiasts. It is the greatest and the oldest sport event in Croatia and it has become a trade-mark for this region and the town of Split.
