Carla Lucchino - "Mission and Future of the US Navy" Ms. Carla Lucchino spoke on the mission/future of the Navy, and related it to her experiences regarding the strategy plans for major weapons and current challenges she faces as the Navy’s senior career civilian advisor. Ms. Lucchino is the Assistant for Administration to the Secretary of the Navy and was assigned to this position in June 2010, performing high-level assignments in execution of the Secretary's policies, goals and objectives. She provides administrative management and support to the Office of the Secretary of the Navy, its 6,000 member Secretariat, staff offices, field activities and supported organizations. Ms. Lucchino received a bachelor’s of arts degree in economics in 1981 from the State University of New York at Binghamton. From there, she immediately entered graduate school at the Russ College of Engineering and Technology and was awarded a master’s of science degree in industrial and systems engineering from Ohio University in 1982. In 1994 she received another master’s of science degree in national security strategy from the National War College located at Ft. McNair in Washington, DC. Ms. Lucchino is the recipient of numerous performance awards including two Meritorious Civilian Service Awards, the Exceptional Civilian Service Award and the Superior Civilian Service Award. She currently serves as a member of the Russ College of Engineering and Technology's Board of Visitors at Ohio University. She is a distinguished graduate of the Russ College of Engineering and Technology, and recently received the Ohio University Alumni Association’s Medal of Merit.

The Defence Secretary and I, along with other ministers have been constantly monitoring the situation and the contracts over many months. And in consultation with Locog and G4S, we have now agreed that it would be prudent to deploy additional military support to provide greater reassurance. I have therefore requested additional MOD support and the Defence Secretary has authorised the deployment of a further 3,500 military personnel." Keith Vaz, Labour MP and Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, was concerned over the safety of spectators to the sporting event. "G4S has let the country down and we have literally had to send in the troops. Can the Home Secretary give the House this assurance: That she is now satisfied that all the changes that she has announced today will mean that what we hope will be the greatest Games ever staged will be done securely for the safety of the visitors and the British people." Shadow Olympics minsiter Tessa Jowell stated that the issue needed to be resolved as soon as possible. "It is a serious problem, but I think it is a serious which has got to be sorted. June 25, 2012 - "Toledo Navy Week Activities" - Deputy Chief Thomas Jaksetic Toledo Fire and Rescue Department Deputy Chief Thomas Jaksetic was appointed to the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department in 1984 and currently has oversight of the Homeland Security/Special Operations and Training Bureaus. Tom is a recipient of the State of Ohio Medal of Valor and Fire House National Heroism Awards. Tom was appointed to the Homeland Security/Special Operations Bureau in 2002 and tasked with building a regional rescue capability and oversight of the department’s technical rescue teams. Tom was promoted to battalion chief in 2008 and given additional responsibilities to include grant writing and grant oversight upon which he submitted and was awarded a $2.9 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant for construction of a new fire station. Fire Station 6 will be dedicated this September 11, 2012. Tom maintains Ohio Department of Homeland Security clearance and is a member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, USCG Area Maritime Security Committee, and a number of state technical advisory committees. Tom also is responsible for major event planning and response. Most recently, Tom was appointed by Mayor Michael Bell to serve has the City of Toledo’s point of contact for Navy Week Toledo.
