The global stock market rout continues after Greece calls a public referendum on its latest bailout plan. The VIX jumps more than 20%, while U.S. Treasuries soar and the dollar gains 2% on the euro, sending commodity prices sharply lower.

Last week saw the major market indexes and top stocks move a lot lower, but the week also saw a positive reversal day on Friday, with the S&P 500 re-testing its May 6th, "flash crash" lows, while the VIX or volatility index and the put-call ratio screamed higher. Has the stock market priced in Europe's credit problems and will this turn out to be a "garden variety" correction? That remains to be seen, but suffice to say, traders would do well to be probing the market with small buys of leading stocks that are possibly poised to move a lot higher. Hi all, After a valiant attempt to hold above 114 level and then break above 114.20 level, the SPY finally broke down below 114 and even the 113.70 area that was "tested" support from this morning. All bullish price signals were contradicted by the VIX and the TRIN so it was a good environment not to go long in. Markets are behaving well. http://FreeTradingVideos.com The markets broke down below the $SPX lower trendline as expected due to the Falling Wedge formation. The $VIX futures are showing increased volume on the January contracts, which is a bearish sign for 2010.

Good day all, Markets (SPY) gapped down this morning and then retraced the intra-day sell off by more than 100%. The TRIN is around 1.8 and the TRINQ is around 0.8. With that divergence and the VIX hovering below the intra-day low, I will need better confirmation before aggressively going long or short. Nice working with you all, Matador : )

Hi all, There was a bit of a divergence between the run up in price vs. the TRIN readings this morning. The VIX finally bled out a bit and now the TRINs are more in line. With this great run to the 110 mark in the SPY, I am even more careful on the long side. Talk soon, Matador : )

Hi again all, Nice gap down to support at 102 on the SPY. The gap was filled by more that 100% and we are now basing at that same area (as of 12:15 pm est.) Hi all, We had a nice symmetrical triangle formation that broke down just a bit along with a small breakout in the VIX. The VIX was basing on it's high when it broke but now is basing again. Several divergences to watch out for on this increase volatility day of expirations : ) Nice working with everybody this week and thanks for being a part of FTV.
